A lot of my most popular "writing" advice is contrarian.

I emphasize "writing" because that's the teaching category I'm...unfairly dropped into.

Truth is, I don't teach "writing", I teach the process a writer needs to know BEFORE they begin writing...but I digress.

As I said, a lot of my "writing" advice goes against the grain.

For one good reason...

You see, without realizing it, most "writing" “gurus” teach you to FAIL.

For most of ’em, I believe their intentions are good. But what they teach doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hawaii of working for 99% of the people.

One of their worst decrees is, “Write, write, write. Don’t ever quit. Just knock out thousands of words every day.” Or any variation thereof.

They make it seem as if just hammering away without end is the answer to becoming a better writer.

But... again, unknown to most of ‘em -- ‘cuz’ many are just posers with very little REAL experience in writing REAL fiction -- what they’re ACTUALLY doing is this:

You’re in your car in Paducah, Tennessee. And your desired destination is Sarasota, Florida (For those of you who don't know, Sarasota is South of Paducah.)

So your “guru” gives you directions to get on the highway going WEST. And after traveling for days, you complain that you’re not any closer to your destination. And they tell you...

“You just don’t WANT it bad enough, man! drive, drive, drive! Don’t ever quit! Stop  whining and just put the pedal to the metal!”

And what’s the problem with that?

You’re driving faster in the WRONG direction!

All that testosterone-fueled, “rah rah, get off your ass and hustle” B.S. is just amping up your adrenaline (and stress) levels. And that means you’re pissing away your precious energy right down the crapper... with nothing to show for it.

I know from experience... it leaves you exhausted, discouraged and depressed.

So if you’re working yourself half to death trying to get ahead and be successful... STOP.

Take a deep breath.

There’s a MUCH better way.

And when you do it this way... the best way... MY way... finally... you can relax and enjoy.

You don’t have to pump yourself up or manufacture that temporary “rah, rah, write, write” energy that makes you feel like you’ve consumed too much caffeine. (Or any other stimulant of your choice.)

Because when you do it MY way, enthusiasm comes naturally. Then it feeds on itself and grows when you start to SEE THE RESULTS FOR YOURSELF.

But like I said, it’s contrarian. It’s not anything like what all the self-anointed "writing" gurus are telling you.

For one SUPER important reason:

If you truly desire to be successful... and you want to experience the MAXIMUM RETURN ON INVESTMENT from your time, effort and resources... when the whole world is zigging, you zag.

And that strategy, my revered reader, has NEVER failed me throughout my entire 12-year plot and outlining experience.

If you’re sick and tired of struggling... with nothing to show for it but blank pages, frustration and a incomplete manuscripts... then do this:

P.S. Sooooooooooo many writers who come to me are exhausted from endless, well-intentioned ‘trying.’

There’s nothing wrong with ’em. They’ve got enough energy and enthusiasm to power an entire city, for cryin’ out loud!

The problem is it’s WASTED. Because their efforts are scattered all over the place.

You CAN finish a novel in a short amount of time.

And, should you choose to, you CAN become a full-time author.

All kinds of people are proving it. From all walks of life... all over the world. You've seen them in your FB groups.

People not any smarter or more gifted than you.

The only difference is that they have access to a PROVEN system.

One that’s completely off the radar of all the gurus who teach writing.

A contrarian system... different from everybody else. (Because remember, if ya wanna be successful... when the whole world is zigging, you zag.)
